The Life.Love. Game Design Challenge is an annual competition which began in 2008. Presented by the non-profit program Gaming Against Violence®, the contest produces intentionally designed pro-social trauma-informed digital games.
Can you create a compelling violence prevention video game without using any violence in the game itself?
A challenge to (human) artists, designers, and visionaries of all ages to create non-violent video games that will be played by young people ages 11 - 22 at school and home.
Started in 2008, the game design challenge topics have included bystander awareness, communication, consent, critical thinking, gaslighting, healthy relationships, resilience, social connectedness, and teen dating violence prevention.
Entrants submit a game pitch about their game idea. Finalists which are selected from the game pitches then have three to four months to create their game. A panel of experts score and critique the completed games. All Finalists receive critiques of their games.
All qualifying Finalist teams receive a minimum of $100 USD. At least one $3,000 USD prize will be given to a qualifying team. The games remain the property of the teams.
